First, tell me a little bit about your background. What did you do before you became part of the Access Plus Capital team?
Hello, my name is Trina Thames! Before I became a part of the Access Plus Capital team, I held a couple of long-term administrative positions in drug and alcohol rehabilitation services and (REO) Real Estate Properties. I have worked in several industries from finance to construction. My most recent position was as an independent contractor for Family First Life as a licensed insurance agent in mortgage protection and final expense.
What do you do at Access Plus Capital?
I am the Administrative Assistant II for Access Plus Capital. I offer day-to-day support to staff and I am a liaison for external agencies, vendors, community, and clients.
What is your favorite part of working at Access Plus Capital?
My favorite part about working at Access Plus Capital is being associated with a team of good people. I am literally surrounded by some of the most hard-working and caring individuals. I could tell right away that I was working with people that loved what they were doing. It shows in how much time and attention they put into their work.
What is your favorite part of working with business owners?
Growing up I lived in a community surrounded by business owners. Eddie owned the local corner market, Frank owned the café, Perry owned the furniture store and there were several other small businesses in our neighborhood that were family-owned. There was a sense of pride in our community. Not only Black pride but the pride of ownership. It doesn’t surprise me that life would bring me full circle helping the very people that guided my vision growing up. Now I have an opportunity to be a catalyst in bringing their vision to life.
What was the latest project you worked on? What was unique about it?
The latest project I worked on was the Fresno County Helping Under-served Businesses (HUB) Grant Program. The program was designed to help local small underserved businesses impacted by the COVID-19. We joined forces with the County of Fresno and Fresno EDC to award $5,000 grants to 1000 small businesses.
What are some of your outside of work hobbies and interests?
Pre-COVID-19 outside of work I enjoyed hanging out with friends and family, going to movies, dinner, and walking my dog. I love taking long drives along the coast, relaxing on the beach, and driving across the bridge on a warm summer evening.
